International Orders: Import Duties, Taxes and Customs Charges

When an VINTQ order is shipped across international borders, the shipment may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, tariffs, brokerage charges, clearance fees, or other government-imposed costs in the destination country.

Unless VINTQ expressly states otherwise during checkout, these charges are not included in the product price or shipping fee and are the responsibility of the recipient or buyer.

Import rules, tariff rates, customs procedures, and tax requirements vary by country and may change from time to time. VINTQ does not control the amounts assessed by customs authorities, shipping carriers, or other third parties.

When Import Charges May Apply

Customs charges may arise when an item is shipped from one country or customs territory into another.

For example, goods moving between countries that are not part of the same customs union may be assessed for duties and taxes when they enter the destination country.

Depending on applicable laws and regulations, certain shipments may qualify for exemptions or reduced charges.

The amount charged, if any, may depend on factors including:

  • The declared or assessed value of the goods

  • The type, category, and materials of the item

  • The country where the goods originated

  • The country where the order is being delivered

  • Applicable tariff classifications

  • The weight, dimensions, and shipping method

  • Local tax, customs, and import regulations

Customs authorities and carriers may request payment before delivery, upon delivery, or after delivery, depending on the procedures used in the destination country.

How the Customs Process Works

1. Your Order Is Prepared and Shipped

Once an international order has been processed, the seller, supplier, or fulfilment partner will prepare the item for shipment to the delivery address provided with the order.

2. The Shipment Enters the Destination Country

When the shipment reaches the destination country or customs territory, it may be reviewed by the relevant customs authority.

The customs authority or its appointed carrier may determine whether duties, taxes, tariffs, clearance charges, or other import-related fees apply.

The assessment may take into account the item's value, description, classification, country of origin, destination, package size, weight, and other information required under local law.

3. Additional Information May Be Requested

Customs authorities or shipping carriers may require information from the recipient before the shipment can be cleared.

Depending on the destination country and the nature or value of the shipment, requested information may include identification, tax, or importer registration details such as:

  • Social Security Number (SSN)

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  • Personal Public Service Number (PPS)

  • Tax Identification Number (TIN)

  • Importer or tax registration number

  • Economic Operators Registration and Identification number (EORI)

  • Other information required by the applicable customs authority

Where additional information is required, the shipping carrier or customs representative may contact the recipient directly by telephone, email, text message, or another available method.

The recipient is responsible for responding promptly and providing accurate information requested for customs clearance.

4. Duties, Taxes, and Other Charges Must Be Paid

If customs duties, import taxes, tariffs, brokerage fees, or other charges are assessed, the carrier, customs authority, or another authorized third party will normally provide payment instructions.

Depending on local procedures, payment may be required:

  • Before the shipment is released for domestic delivery

  • Before a delivery appointment can be arranged

  • At the time of delivery

  • After delivery, where permitted by local customs procedures

The buyer or recipient is responsible for paying all applicable charges associated with importing the order unless VINTQ has expressly agreed otherwise in writing.

5. Customs Releases the Shipment

After all required documentation has been provided and applicable charges have been resolved, the customs authority may release the shipment.

The shipping carrier will then continue the delivery process.

Customs Delays

International shipments may occasionally be delayed while customs authorities inspect goods, verify documentation, request information, or process duties and taxes.

Customs clearance times are outside VINTQ's control.

As a result, the actual delivery date may be later than an original delivery estimate. Delivery estimates should therefore not be interpreted as a guarantee where customs processing is involved.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly stated by VINTQ, delays caused solely by customs processing do not qualify for reimbursement of shipping charges.

Your Responsibility to Respond to Customs Requests

Buyers and recipients are expected to respond promptly to communications from customs authorities, carriers, or authorized customs representatives.

Failure to provide requested information or pay required import charges may result in consequences including:

  • Delayed delivery

  • Storage or warehouse charges

  • Additional carrier or customs fees

  • Return of the shipment to the sender

  • Additional return or reshipping charges

  • Refusal of entry by customs

  • Abandonment or disposal of the shipment where permitted by applicable law

Any additional costs resulting from the recipient's failure to complete customs clearance may be charged to the buyer to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Returned International Shipments

If a shipment is returned because customs requirements were not completed, import charges were not paid, or the recipient did not respond to the carrier or customs authority, the buyer may be responsible for costs associated with the return.

These costs may include return transportation, storage, customs processing, brokerage, administrative charges, and any additional shipping costs required to send the item again.

VINTQ may deduct applicable return-related costs from any refund where permitted by law and by VINTQ's applicable refund or return policy.

If the buyer requests that the order be shipped again, any additional shipping or customs-related costs may need to be paid before reshipment is arranged.

Abandoned or Disposed Shipments

In certain circumstances, customs authorities, shipping carriers, warehouses, or other authorized parties may classify an unclaimed shipment as abandoned.

Where permitted under applicable law, an abandoned shipment may be returned, sold, destroyed, discarded, or otherwise disposed of by the party holding the goods.

VINTQ cannot guarantee recovery of an order after it has been abandoned or disposed of by customs authorities, a carrier, or another third party.

Where an item has been lawfully destroyed, discarded, or otherwise made unrecoverable because the recipient failed to complete the customs process, VINTQ may be unable to issue a refund, subject always to applicable consumer-protection laws.

Refunds of Customs Duties and Import Taxes

Import duties, tariffs, customs charges, and taxes are generally collected by government authorities, shipping carriers, customs brokers, or other third parties rather than by VINTQ.

For that reason, VINTQ generally cannot directly refund customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, or similar third-party charges unless VINTQ itself collected the relevant amount and applicable law or VINTQ's published policy requires a refund.

If an order is returned, cancelled after importation, or otherwise qualifies for reimbursement of import charges, the buyer may need to apply directly to the relevant customs authority, carrier, tax authority, or customs broker.

Eligibility and procedures for recovering these amounts vary by country.

Important Note

Customs regulations differ between countries and can change without notice. Buyers are responsible for understanding the import requirements that apply to their destination before completing an international purchase.

For questions about a particular shipment, customs assessment, tariff classification, or import charge, buyers should contact the shipping carrier or the appropriate customs authority in the destination country.

VINTQ may provide general information about international shipping, but VINTQ cannot determine, guarantee, waive, or modify charges imposed by customs authorities or other third parties.
