Can Coalport porcelain go in a dishwasher or microwave?

Many Coalport pieces carry gilding and hand-painted enamels, and harsh cycles can dull gold and wear ornaments over time. That’s why, antique and early Coalport should be treated as decorative tableware, not daily machine ware. Hand washing in lukewarm water with mild soap, then air drying, protects paint and gilt. Microwave use brings risk when gold is present on the piece, since metallic decoration can spark. Pieces made for modern retail ranges may tolerate more, yet the maker’s name alone does not prove modern standards. A cautious rule: no dishwasher, no microwave, no long soaks. Use soft cloth separators in storage, since stacked plates can rub gold bands even without washing.
