How do you date a Bow piece without a date written on it?

Dating is based on a series of clues, such as the shape and style of the handles, which may reflect mid-18th-century London taste, and the decorations may repeat famous Bow families that copied the appearance of Asian exports. The body, soft bow mass, made of bone and ash, often appears cream in colour, with an ivory toned glaze. Strong dating claims are usually based on comparisons with well-known objects in museum collections, rather than on a single clue.
