Early pieces often imitated Chinese and Japanese porcelain imported to Britain, from blue and white to chinoiserie scenes. The factory closely followed Chelsea's example, producing similar styles for the London market. From about 1753, figurines began to create similar like Meissen models and reached collectors who liked German-style sculptures without paying for imports. This combination of Asian export models for the tea table and the European fondness for figurines for display helps to define the Bow image.
