Three main factors determine price is, shape, painting, and condition. Rare shapes such as tereenae, large vessels, and intricate figures tend to be in higher demand than simple saucers. The quality of the painting is also important, fine landscapes, clear botanical motifs, and well-modelled gilt edges attract collectors. Condition can make all the difference. Old thin cracks, edge scratches, and restored cracks are common in 18th-century soft cliché, but extensive restoration reduces appeal. A solid provenance, such as a documented collection history or museum-style comparison, helps. The type of markings, anchor-marked pieces are often easier to date.
