Ćmielów is a historic porcelain manufacturer based in the town of Ćmielów in south-eastern Poland. Porcelain production there started in the late eighteenth century, with many sources giving 1790 as the beginning of organised ceramic work and the early nineteenth century as the point when true hard-paste porcelain entered regular production. Over time the factory supplied tableware to Polish aristocratic households and later to a wider middle-class market. Today the brand forms part of Polskie Fabryki Porcelany “Ćmielów” i “Chodzież” S.A., a company created in 2013 that combines several long-standing porcelain makers under one corporate roof while retaining historic brand names. Ćmielów remains closely associated with elegant white table services, often with gilded or cobalt decoration, and with sculptural porcelain figurines linked to the Polish “New Look” style of the 1950s and 1960s. Collector’s value both antique and modern production from this factory for the continuity of design and long documented history of the works.
