Lladró Porcelain

Lladró is a Spanish porcelain company best known for its figurines and sculptural décor. The firm was founded in 1953 by three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in the village of Almàssera near Valencia. A few years later production moved to Tavernes Blanques, just outside Valencia, and that town remains the centre of operations and design today. All high-end Lladró porcelain art is created in Spain, from the original modelling and hand painting through to kilning and finishing. The brand built its reputation on romantic and pastoral figurines, but the range now covers decorative sculptures, lighting, fragrance diffusers and other home accessories. Lladró pieces sit in a middle ground between luxury décor and fine art, so collectors approach them as both display objects and investments. The company name on a backstamp always refers to this Spanish origin, even when distribution passes through boutiques and department stores worldwide.
