What is special about Lladró’s floral work on figurines and vases?

Lladró Porcelain

Lladró is widely admired for its tiny porcelain flowers, often seen on bridal pieces, ladies with parasols and decorative vases. These flowers are formed petal by petal by hand. Artisans roll and cut thin porcelain paste, shape each petal with tools and fingertips, then assemble blossoms directly on the sculpture before firing. This method gives a very natural look, with small variations that reflect the human hand. Flower garlands, bouquets and wreaths demand great skill, so pieces covered in floral decoration tend to be more labour-intensive and sit at higher price levels. The same technique appears on some home accessories, such as ornate centrepieces or candlesticks. Those raised decorations are vulnerable to knocks and chips, so many owners place heavily flowered pieces in cabinets rather than open shelves. For collectors, intact floral work often separates top-quality examples from damaged ones on the secondary market.
