The Bow factory reached its peak production in the mid-18th century, and the most active years were around 1747–1764, with major accounts mentioning closure in the 1770s. One frequently repeated date for the final closing is 1776. William Duesbury, who bought Chelsea in 1770, later acquired the Bow Porcelain and closed it shortly afterwards. Sources do not all agree on the timing of the closure, and so Bow is often described in catalogues as a mid-century factory that continued into the 1770s.
