Lladró Porcelain

Lladró began in 1953 as a small workshop in Almàssera, where the three Lladró brothers produced simple ceramic wares such as vases and jugs. Demand for their work grew, and by 1956 they started to focus on figurative sculpture in porcelain. Interest in these more artistic pieces expanded rapidly, so the workshop enlarged several times in just a few years. In 1958 the brothers relocated the factory to nearby Tavernes Blanques, where a larger site allowed more staff, kilns and design space. Over the following decades Lladró introduced new materials such as gres, a stoneware-like body with warmer tones, and developed many themed collections from traditional Spanish scenes to ballet, childhood and religion. The company gradually added lighting and home accessories, yet figurines remain the core of the brand’s identity. Today Lladró is recognised worldwide as a producer of Spanish porcelain art with roots in that original family enterprise of the 1950s.
