Why is Coalport Porcelain called “Coalport”?

The name comes from the location: Coalport, a canalside settlement linked to the transport of coal and goods through the Shropshire canal system and the River Severn traffic. Coalport porcelain, Coalbrookdale, and the history of Ironbridge Gorge are intertwined, so "Coalbrookdale" is sometimes used as a description or brand linked to the location, rather than to an independent manufacturer. The modern Coalport Porcelain Museum is located in the former industrial setting, where bottle kilns and factories are still preserved, providing context on how porcelain production was integrated into local transport and industry.
