Carl Scheidig porcelain figurines should be cleaned with care to protect the hand-painted decoration and delicate porcelain surface, as porcelain has survived for decades in many collections, making careful handling just as valuable as careful cleaning. Even a small fall from a shelf can cause damage that is difficult to repair. Dust is usually removed with a soft brush, a clean microfibre cloth or a gentle stream of air from a hand-operated blower. Tight spaces between flowers, fingers or animal features often collect dust that cannot be reached with a cloth alone. Soft artist's brushes work well for those detailed areas and if a figurine needs more than dusting, lukewarm water with a small amount of mild soap is often suitable. A soft cloth or cotton pad can lift surface dirt without scratching the glaze.
