Are Höchst Porcelain pieces hand-painted?

Historic Höchst Porcelain pieces from the eighteenth century are hand-painted, often by highly trained artists. Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck, one of the founders, had previously worked at Meissen and brought valuable painting experience. Decoration includes flower sprays, landscape scenes, figures, and ornament in enamel colours and gilding. The modern Höchst manufactory continues this tradition. Porcelain blanks are formed, fired, and then sent to painters who apply outlines, shading, and gold by hand, followed by further firings. This approach produces slight variations from piece to piece, which many collectors view as a mark of quality.
