Can chips or cracks in Limoges porcelain be repaired?

Repair is possible, but it changes the collectible value. Professional restoration can improve display appeal, especially for sentimental items, but many buyers value intact condition. Cracks and edge chips usually significantly reduce the price, even if the repair is not visually noticeable. Items repaired for functional use should be considered display items only, heat and washing can damage repaired areas. If you want to restore an item, contact a ceramic restorer with experience, not a general bonding job. Keep photos of the damage and repair records, as transparency helps with resale value. In the event of an insurance appraisal, disclose the details of the repair, a repaired plate may still be valuable in rare cases, but buyers will factor condition into the price.
