The brand’s parent group started as a gift supplier in the 1980s, then moved into its own porcelain development in the late 1990s. FRANZ Collection Inc. was founded in San Francisco in 2001, followed by the Chinese-language brand launch in Taiwan in 2003. During the 2000s, FRANZ opened many retail points in Asia and cooperated with international department stores. Around the mid-2010s, news articles from Taiwan reported declining sales and staff reductions, including a major downsizing in 2016. Even with these changes, the brand continues to appear in stores and online platforms, and existing pieces stay present in collector markets.
