What are the most famous Batik patterns and what do they mean?

Batik artwork is known for its rich collection of patterns, many of which carry meanings that date back hundreds of years. Some designs are recognised across Indonesia and have become symbols of the country's cultural heritage. One of the most famous motifs is Parang.
