How can I protect gold trim on Royal Albert pieces?

Gold trim can look dull after frequent washing or stacking. Protection comes from gentle handling and careful storage. Hand wash in warm water with mild soap, then dry with a soft cloth rather than air-drying, which can leave mineral spots. Use felt or tissue separators between stacked plates and saucers, and keep cup rims from rubbing in storage. Skip harsh powders and scrubbing pads, since they scratch glaze and wear gilding. If gold already shows wear, treat the piece as display or light-use china; the missing gold will not return without professional re-gilding.
