How durable are Arita ware glass pieces?

Arita ware with glass elements is durable when made correctly, though it requires careful handling. The porcelain base remains strong, as it is fired at high temperatures and has low porosity. Glass sections can be more sensitive to sudden temperature changes. For example, placing a hot piece directly into cold water may cause stress cracks. Many makers recommend avoiding rapid temperature shifts. Under normal use, these pieces can last for decades. Historical Arita porcelain from the 1600s still survives today, showing the material’s strength. Modern hybrid pieces aim to match that durability, though their mixed composition adds complexity. Proper care helps maintain both the ceramic and glass components over time.
