How is Arita ware tested for quality?

Arita ware

Quality testing for Arita ware includes checks for cracks, glaze consistency, and structural strength. Pieces are inspected after each firing stage. Glass-infused items undergo additional checks, as the bond between glass and porcelain must remain stable. Some workshops perform thermal tests, exposing pieces to temperature changes. Items that fail are discarded or recycled. Reports from certain kilns suggest that defect rates can reach 20–30% for complex designs. Only pieces that meet strict standards are sold. This process helps maintain the reputation of Arita ware.
