Creating Arita ware with glass features can take several weeks, sometimes longer for complex pieces. The process starts with shaping the porcelain body, followed by drying and a first firing known as bisque firing. After that, glaze is applied, and the piece undergoes a second firing at high temperature. For glass integration, artisans may add glass before a final firing stage or use a separate kiln cycle. Timing is precise, as glass melts between 700°C and 900°C, lower than porcelain. Cooling also requires care to avoid stress fractures. A single piece might go through three or four firings. In some workshops, only a portion of finished items pass quality checks, especially when glass is involved. This extended timeline and risk factor contribute to the higher price of such pieces in the market.
