The gold finish requires gentle handling. Hand wash with mild dish soap and warm water, then use a soft cloth or sponge, no scratchy pads, no gritty cleansers or citrus-based degreasers. Dry immediately as water spots may form and extra rubbing means extra wear to the gilding. If food is stuck on, soak briefly in warm, soapy water and wipe off the residue with a soft cloth instead of scraping with dishes. Never polish gold with metal polish; which can remove the gilding. Storage is also important, as stacked plates can rub the gold edges. Use felt or paper plate separators or store plates on the edge of shelves. With regular gentle care, gold bands retain their shine much longer.
