Is Royal Worcester still made in Worcester today?

Porcelain and earthenware production at the Severn Street factory in Worcestershire ceased in 2008 when the factory closed and the Royal Worcester brand was acquired by the Portmeirion Group in 2009. The museum's history and ownership pages list the date of closure and the subsequent acquisition of the name and intellectual property by Portmeirion. Portmeirion's own company history states that it acquired the Royal Worcester brands in 2009. For buyers, this means that Royal Worcester is on both older products made in Worcestershire and later brands made outside Worcester. If you are looking for Worcester made, focus on provenance, factory marks and date codes rather than just the brand.
