Which country has the largest kava bowl tradition?

Fiji holds one of the largest and most visible kava bowl traditions in the Pacific. Kava drinking forms part of daily social life across towns and villages and government figures from Fiji once estimated that more than 80% of households drank kava on a regular basis. Large ceremonial bowls appear at weddings, rugby gatherings, village meetings, and political events. Tonga and Samoa maintain strong kava traditions too, mainly through formal ceremonies linked with chiefs and family groups. Vanuatu grows huge quantities of kava root and exports large amounts abroad, yet bowl styles differ from Fijian tanoa designs. Fiji gained broad tourism exposure during the late 20th century, which helped spread images of the four-legged tanoa across travel magazines and postcards and some hotel resorts display giant bowls in entrance halls, with one oversized bowl shown at a cultural event in Suva measured nearly 1.8 metres across.
