Belleek Pottery Porcelain

Belleek uses a pearly, iridescent finish on selected wares, commonly described as “mother of pearl” decoration. Belleek’s own production notes mention that some pieces—such as figurines, baskets, and jewellery, may have mother-of-pearl decoration added during the decorating stage. This finish can look like a soft glow that shifts under light, rather than a flat white glaze. Collectors often associate it with classic Belleek giftware, especially floral and basket forms. For care, keep in mind that lustre finishes can scuff or dull with rough handling, harsh abrasives, or repeated heavy dishwasher cycles. Treat it like a decorative surface layer, not an all-purpose everyday glaze.
