Haviland is closely associated with Limoges, as David Haviland settled in Limoges in the 1800s and established a business linked to the production and export of porcelain. Many collectors chase Haviland patterns for dinnerware, floral motifs and tableware that have been sold for a long time. Pattern names can be tricky, with some parts having a clear model name, others showing only a number or retailer code. Condition and completeness stimulate collecting, complete decorations, serving pieces and matching teapots tend to attract more buyers than individual plates.
