Höchst Porcelain reflects mid-eighteenth-century taste in central Europe. Many early works follow the Rococo fashion, with playful movement, curved outlines, and lively groups of figures. Decoration often includes delicate flowers, gilt scrollwork, and scenes inspired by theatre or pastoral life. Later production shows increasing interest in Neoclassicism, with straighter lines, simpler borders, and motifs drawn from antiquity. Oriental themes appear as well, including the famous Chinese emperor’s court group now in Mainz, which mirrors the fascination for East Asia in European courts.
