When did Höchst Porcelain originally operate, and does it still exist?

The historic Höchst factory started production in 1746 near Frankfurt am Main under the Elector of Mainz. It ran for about fifty years and closed in 1796 after bankruptcy. The tradition did not end there. A new Höchst porcelain manufactory was founded in 1947 in Frankfurt-Höchst, again using the Mainz wheel mark and focusing on hand-crafted porcelain. Today the company works with a small team, combining historical models with new designs, and since 2023 it has been linked to the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach.
