When did Worcester earn the “Royal” title, and what did it mean?

Worcester received its first Royal Warrant in 1789 from King George III. According to the Royal Worcester Museum, this allowed the factory to use the royal coat of arms and the words "Manufacturers for Their Majesties." For collectors, this date helps distinguish earlier Worcester pieces from later products made with the Crown's seal of approval. The Royal Warrant did not mean that every product bore royal symbols, but it did enhance the prestige and shape the brand in later years. If you find a mark or label indicating royal patronage, check the style and wording against known dates and periods of ownership of the factory to make sure it matches the piece.
