Capodimonte Porcelain

Capodimonte porcelain was originally produced in Naples, Italy. The first factory operated inside the Capodimonte royal palace grounds. After King Charles III moved to Spain in 1759, equipment and key artisans relocated, and a new factory called Buen Retiro began in Madrid. Production continued in Naples under new ownership later in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the twentieth century, several Italian workshops continued the Capodimonte tradition mainly in Naples and surrounding regions.
