Who owns Wedgwood now, and why does that matter for collectors?

Wedgwood sits within WWRD, a luxury homewares group owned by Fiskars Group. Fiskars announced its deal to acquire WWRD in May 2015, and Fiskars’ own pages list Wedgwood among its named houses. This matters for collectors of new Wedgwood items since production, distribution, and warranty handling run through today’s corporate structure rather than the old family-run firm. For vintage buyers, ownership has less impact on authenticity; the base mark and the period details still do the heavy lifting. Still, modern collections and reissues can share old pattern names, which can confuse search results. If you want an older English-made piece, look for stamps that say “Made in England” and match them to known mark eras. If you want a current retail item, buy from an authorized outlet and keep the product code, since contemporary ranges can change season by season.
