Khosrow Salehi Limited Edition Prints

Lipizzaner horses are the defining feature of the Spanish Riding School. The breed dates back to the 16th century, developed under the Habsburg monarchy. They are known for their strength, intelligence, and ability to perform advanced dressage movements. Salehi’s prints often highlight their white coats, though foals are born dark and lighten with age. This transformation can take up to six years. The horses’ controlled movements, such as the capriole, create dramatic visual moments that translate well into art. There are about 350 Lipizzaner horses worldwide used for classical dressage. The Vienna school maintains a core group of around 70. Salehi’s focus on these animals reflects their cultural significance in Austria and their long association with royal tradition. His artistic interpretation adds a softer, more fluid perspective to their structured performances.
